Construction of Izmir Metro (the Republic of Turkey) started in 1990. At that time the first design plans were introduced, and metro building works started in 1995. Four years later the first section was put into commission, and in August 2000, the new type of city transport was put into operation. Izmir Metro consists of one operating line, that starts from Fahrettin Altay station located in the southern agglomeration part and leads to the north-east to Evka 3 station in Bornova. The length of Izmir Metro line is 20.1 km, and the total number of stations is 17. Izmir Metro carries up to 180 thousand passengers every day, and more than 60 million people per year.
In 2019 PLUTON experts carried out equipment supply, installation supervision and adjustment supervision for Halkapinar Depot substation located near Halkapinar station — one of the stations of Izmir Metro first start-up section that was opened in August, 25, 2000. The station has a transfer platform to Izban suburban high speed trains line and to Konak tram line. Within the framework of the project Halkapinar Depot was equipped with PLUTON reliable and modern equipment (DC switchgears 750 V and rectifier) that meets European and international standards.
