The formal opening of the modernized traction substation №1, located on the territory of Kramatorsk Tram and Trolleybus Authority tram depot, took place in Kramatorsk on November 15, 2018. The substation is provided for power supply of electric transport, which maintains transport routes between Kramatorsk city center and Old Kramatorsk.
The substation modernization project was implemented within the framework of the Covenant of Mayors with financial support from the EU. The main purpose of the project was power saving, reducing costs for maintenance and repair, as well as increasing the quality of Kramatorsk public transport services, and reducing the probability and quantity of emergency stops.
The project involved the installation of three modules. PLUTON with its wide experience of implementation of similar projects both in Ukraine and abroad (new tram line in Vinnytsya with the application of PLUTON two-unit modular substation, supply of turn-key three-unit modular traction substation for power supply of new tramline in Lviv, etc.) was selected as a traction substation equipment manufacturer.
The modular traction substation is provided for operation in a standalone mode without the continuous presence of operating staff. Furthermore, the substation is equipped with emergency and working lighting systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, intrusion detection system, fire detection, and fire extinguishing systems.
Equipment of PLUTON modular traction substation is provided with blocking and protections, which provide high equipment safety level for operating personnel. The benefit of the substation is its high readiness for putting into commissioning and mobility — possibility of displacement to another site using the road or railroad freight transport. Ready-assembled modules of traction substation with equipment package were installed onto the pre-arranged foundation.
After installation of modules, PLUTON experts carried out commissioning and startup, as well as training for personnel, who will carry out substation maintenance.
