PLUTON three-unit modular traction substation provides power supply of the new tram line in Lviv. The new tram line was built in the city for the first time within the last 30 years. It connected the largest residential district Sykhiv, inhabiting about 150,000 residents of Lviv, with the city center. Total length of the new tram line is 11,5 km. Capacity of the new line is up to 8 thousand passengers per hour. It’s expected that 48 thousand residents of Lviv will use the tram daily.
The project was financed under the loan of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. PLUTON, as one of the leaders in the field of power distribution equipment manufacturing, has developed and implemented simple and universal solution for the new line power supply — modern three-unit modular traction substation. Modular substation is unique and is based on innovative technical solutions designed to significantly reduce substation operating costs and increase equipment lifetime.
Modular substation is an automated low-maintenance traction substation, which doesn’t require personnel on duty. Reliable power supply is provided with modern traction equipment system, controlled automatically by remote control system. All systems operating voltage supply is provided from auxiliaries system. Modular substation is equipped with lighting, ventilation, air conditioning, heating systems, as well as with fire alarm system.
