The cooperation of PLUTON and Municipal Enterprise "Kyivpastrans" started in 1998, and during the next 15 years PLUTON carried out supply of equipment for more than 30 fixed substations of city electric transport in Kyiv.
In 2020 PLUTON carried out a "turn-key" supply, installation, and commissioning of single-unit modular traction substation, provided for temporary power supply of contact network after dismantling of "Lybidska" traction substation №3 (TS-706) for the period of building and commissioning of fixed built-in traction substation. The power supply and communication service of Municipal Enterprise “Kyivpastrans” was the end Customer.
PLUTON modular traction substation included the following equipment:
- NEX Switchgear 10 kV — 5 cubicles;
- rectifier — 1 unit;
- three-phase converting dry transformer 1600 kVA — 1 unit;
- auxiliaries dry transformer 25 kVA — 1 unit;
- switchgear 600 V — 7 units;
- negative busbar switchgear — 1 unit;
- SMTN-3 traction substation monitoring and protection system — 3 sets;
- telecontrol cabinet — 1 unit;
- auxiliaries cabinet — 1 unit;
- operating current cabinet — 1 unit;
- current relay unit — 2 units;
- module with the climatic system — 1 set.
The modular traction substation at "Lybidska" station was the first substation, where PLUTON applied the innovative AFB arc-free ultra high-speed DC circuit breaker as a part of DC switchgear 600 V.
All equipment of modular traction substation is provided with microprocessor control, protection and monitoring units based on standard industrial controller, and provides such functions as storage and displaying of events log, failures log, logs of faults oscillograph, data transfer into the upper-level system for further analysis, control, monitoring and display of the position of power switching units, blockings for other substation units, etc. This equipment is also integrated into the general system of traction substation automated control using Ethernet interface and central computer at modular traction substation and provided data exchange with centralized diagnostics and visualization system, as well as with remote control and signaling system in real-time mode.
The module of modular traction substation has a high shop-assembled level by default, and was supplied to the site in maximally assembled condition — such approach allowed minimizing the scope of installation works on-site, excluding capital construction costs, as well as putting the substation into commission within the minimum period. The module is installed on the foundation with a height of 1.3 m and allows easy transportation due to its design and dimensional parameters. The module is equipped with ventilation, air conditioning, electric heating, lighting (main and emergency), security, and fire alarm systems.
In 2021 PLUTON carried out a supply of equipment for the "Lybidska" fixed substation:
- AC switchgear 10 kV series NEX — 7 cubicles;
- rectifier — 2 units;
- dry converting transformer 1600 kVA — 2 units;
- dry auxiliaries transformer 40 kVA — 2 units;
- DC switchgear — 11 units;
- negative busbar switchgear — 2 units;
- telecontrol cabinet — 1 unit;
- auxiliaries cabinet — 1 unit;
- input unit cabinet — 1 unit;
- operating current cabinet — 1 unit;
- current relay block — 4 units.
