Trial operation of DC switchgear with AFB40® circuit breaker was successfully launched in Almaty Metro Municipal State Enterprise.
Sairan substation became the first in Almaty Metro to implement an innovative and unique solution from Pluton - ultra-high speed arc-free AFB® circuit breaker that prevents destructive arcing and contacts damage during emergency trips. AFB® circuit breaker offers a number of advantages compared to circuit breakers with traditional arc interruption, such as safety, high durability and compactness. It can withstand up to 50,000 maintenance-free operations, including short-circuit trippings.
Metro personnel received technical training on the operation of this equipment. The switchgears were tested and successfully put into operation, functioning properly.
After successful completion of trial operation at this substation, wide use of similar devices is planned at other substations of Almaty Metro.
