Modernisation of Chocianowice depot demonstrates the way modern technologies increase the reliability and energy efficiency of urban transport.
An important part of this project was the upgrade of traction substation, where our team installed new equipment and retrofit packages adapted to the specifics of the facility and the Customer's requirements.
DC switchgear was modernised as part of the project: control systems based on SOTA® controller and touch panels with an intuitive interface were implemented, as well as new cubicles with modern circuit breakers were installed.
Outdated relay devices in medium-voltage switchgear have been replaced with modern relay protection and automation systems, increasing the reliability and safety of the equipment operation. Due to implementation of IEC 61850 protocol, the substation now has centralised monitoring from the operations control centre and remote control in real time.
Key upgrades include the latest rectifiers and transformers, increasing the substation's power and efficiency while reducing maintenance costs and energy consumption, thus contributing to future budget savings.
The substation renovation has become an important step in modernisation of Chocianowice depot, enabling it to operate new low-floor trams, improving passenger comfort, particularly for people with disabilities, and ensuring the efficient operation of public transport in Łódź for years to come.
Pluton is proud to be a part of this project, making public transport in Łódź modern, reliable, and affordable.
