Bucharest metro network includes 5 lines having the length of 77.5 km and 83 stations. M2 metro line is the busiest, it goes through many districts of the Romanian capital, connecting the north and south of the city. The extension of M2 line was determined by the need to provide residents of suburban areas with the opportunity to quickly and unobstructed reach the city center.
PLUTON implemented a modern traction substation to feed the new metro section. The substation includes modern 825 V DC switchgear, powerful 12-pulse drawout-type rectifiers, reliable equipment for metro traction network segments sectioning (disconnectors and control cabinets). Also, VLDs (Voltage Limiting Device) are installed at the substation. These devices guarantee safety and exclude the possibility of electric shock to passengers and personnel servicing the substation, in the event of an emergency potential increase above the set values.
The substation equipment control system is based on the latest SOTA® system manufactured by PLUTON. SOTA® special feature is the combination of two separate functional devices – a programmable controller (PLC) and a traction network protection and monitoring system. SOTA® main advantage is the support of IEC 61850 protocol, which is one of the most significant improvements in the field of substation automation and protection technologies in the last few decades. It is a single, global standard of interaction and real-time data exchange between substation devices. It ensures maximum efficiency, safety and reliability of the power system.
We congratulate Bucharest residents with the new metro station and thank our partners "UTI CFM" and "Metrorex S.A." for the support and confidence in us!
